milestone reached!

November 19th, 2014 at 03:22 am

wow - my retirement accounts total currently reads 502,139.65! this includes work 403b, traditional ira and roth ira. yeehaw - glad i can share it here, not something i'll go around announcing in my daily life. in fact, i'm not sure if i will share this news with anyone. i'm curious - who do you talk about finances with? family, friends, nobody?

bathroom deconstruction continues. my house is old, so there are a few layers of floor to remove, there is plaster and lathe behind where the shower/tub used to be and an odd square hole in the subfloor.

can't believe there's a chase freedom card offer with $200 cash back bonus for spending $500. i just got the same card last month with a $100 cash back bonus offer. i'm so annoyed!

i guess i should update my sidebar since i am no longer "40-something"!

It was just yesterday that you were under $500K! Isn't it amazing what compounding can do? The only one I talk to in person about the balance of our retirement accounts is my husband. It's all from his earnings primarily and I want him to know where we stand. I also write about our retirement here from time to time. The most recent milestones was $300K for combined retirement. Today we were over $307K!

SA is a terrific, safe outlet to share financial plans and examine our actions.

I try endlessly to find a way to get DH interested in finance. I think he heard a couple of things yesterday before his eyes glazed over and I suspect he dozed, although he denies it! lol I would so like him to take an interest in money management but like all the 'ivory tower' PH Ds, it's just money. These guys have their heads full of other ideas. The bills are paid, the fridge is full, all is good.

The mess from demolition is unbelievable. The dust gets into everything, everywhere despite plastic sheeting and cover ups.

I messaged Chase because a similar thing happened to me and they matched the $200 offer. Only a week had passed between the change in offer, rather than a month, but it's still worth a shot!

I used the messaging tool in Chase's online system.

Who else do I talk to about my net worth, besides SA and Networthiq.com?

Just one person in my life, an old boyfriend who is even more frugal and conservative with money than I am. He always encouraged me to save, save, save.

But aside from him, just you guys in cyber space. Even here I'm sometimes hesitant to do so because I'm aware there are many on here who are trying to climb out from under heavy debt. I am grateful that I've been able to congratulate myself on occasions Smile for my savings achievements (and not gotten any nasty notes) and I try to offer sincere encouragement for others to do the same.

I totally understand! My 401k just hit 6 figures this week and I was very excited. I only discuss details with my hubby and one friend.
